Sunny skies and very hot temperatures for Labor Day

Sunny skies and hot temperatures continue for Labor Day.

Today will be sunny and dry with a high of 92 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Heat index values will only be a few degrees warmer than the actual air temperature.

Tonight will be mostly clear but warm with a low falling around 70 degrees.

Tuesday will be cloudy, with a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms in the mid- and late afternoon. Highs will be in the low 90s with heat indexes in the mid-90s. Low temperatures will drop into the 70s overnight.

Temperatures will start to cool halfway through the week with highs in the mid-80s Wednesday

A chance of showers and thunderstorms may occur after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Overnight, expect a 40% chance of precipitation and storms before and after 8 p.m. The low will be near 68 degrees.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees, followed by a mostly clear Thursday night with a low of 61 degrees.

Temperatures will drop back into the 70s over the weekend, with highs in the mid-70s on Friday and Saturday.
