Warm and sunny today and tomorrow; Rain returns Wednesday

It will be a warm and sunny start to the work week, but rain and storms are possible during the second half the of week, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Overall today will be sunny with warm temperatures. Some clouds will linger in the morning, but will break apart for clear skies this afternoon.

Highs will reach the mid-70s. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid-50s.

Another sunny and pleasant day is in store for Tuesday. Sunshine is expected throughout the day with temperatures reaching the high 70s. Dewpoints in the mid to high 40s will keep humidity levels comfortable, according to NWS.

Quiet conditions continue Tuesday evening. Cloud coverage will increase but the region is expected to stay dry. Overnight temperatures will be in the mid-50s.

The chance for rain returns late Tuesday night and into Wednesday day. A rumble or two of thunder is possible, according to NWS. Multiple rounds of showers and storms are expected through Wednesday evening to Thursday day.

By late Thursday evening and into the night, the chance for storms and rain will taper off, leading to drier Friday.

More information about the timing and severity of storms will be available over the next day or two.

Hot temperatures and humidity will return Friday, with temperatures in the upper 80s and dewpoints in the 60s.
