Hot, blustery today; More rain expected over weekend

After early rains, today will be mostly sunny, hot and blustery. There will be sustained winds up to 21 mph, gusts as high as 31 mph and highs up around 90 degrees.

These temperatures will be near the record for Dayton, which was set at 91 degrees in 1911.

Winds will calm down after sunset, but tonight will still be warm, with a low around 71 degrees.

Saturday will also be hot, with highs around 92 degrees. This again will approach record-breaking heat, with the records for the hottest May 21 set in 1902, when it got up to 92 degrees.

The chance for some rain in the late afternoon and evening could help break the heat. Showers and storms could include strong to severe conditions of high winds and hail.

Overnight lows will be cooler, though, at around 63 degrees.

Rain will be likely with a chance of storms on Sunday as a cold front moves through the region. Shower and storm chances will drop in the evening, though there will still be a slight chance of rain through Sunday night.
