Conditions will be fair this evening, with skies becoming clear overnight.

The high for today reached 72 in Dayton and 70 degrees in Cincinnati and Columbus, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The overnight low should once again dip into the mid-40s.

“If you like crisp, cool autumn mornings with abundant sunshine and mild afternoon temperatures, then this is the forecast for you … through midweek at least. Rain chances return by Thursday with chilly and cloudy conditions to end the week,” the NWS posted on social media.

It will be sunny and a bit warmer for Wednesday, which will have a high near 74 degrees.

Beginning around dark, though, clouds will begin to gather as a cold front approaches. Skies will become mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Showers are likely, with possibly a thunderstorm, between 2 and 3 a.m. followed by a chance of showers and storms after 3 a.m. The overnight low will be around 57 degrees.

Rain chances will carry over into Thursday morning, mainly before 10 a.m., but will taper off as the front moves on. It will be mostly cloudy and cooler with a high near 69 degrees and wind gusts as high as 25 mph. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 50 degrees.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected Friday with a high near 62 degrees. There is a chance of showers between 7 and 9 p.m. Friday. Otherwise, skies remain mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 45 degrees.
