Mostly sunny, hot today; Air Quality Alert in effect for Butler, Warren counties

It will be mostly sunny and hot today, with a weak cold front bringing a chance for isolated storms north of Interstate 70, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Highs will be around 91 degrees.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Friday in Butler and Warren counties by the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency. The agency said that during that day it expects levels of ozone considered unhealthy for sensitive groups like children, elderly adults and people with respiratory and cardiac diseases.

Residents can help reduce ozone formation by limiting the use of gas-powered vehicles or lawn equipment and refueling cars after 8 p.m.

There will be a few more clouds overnight as temperatures fall to around 67 degrees.

Saturday will also bring mostly sunny skies and highs around 91 degrees, though clouds will increase in the evening for a mostly cloudy night. Lows will be around 69 degrees.

There will be a slight chance of rain starting soon after sunrise on Sunday that will gradually increase as the day goes on, joined by a chance of thunderstorms at around noon.

Showers will be likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening, and are expected to continue through the night.

Highs on Sunday will again be around 91 degrees, with lows around 71 degrees.
