Showers, gusty winds tonight ahead of much colder St. Patrick’s Day

Widespread light to moderate showers will arrive tonight, along with gusty winds, ahead of a cold front arriving for St. Patrick’s Day.

The high for today reached 62 degrees in Dayton, 61 in Cincinnati and 60 in Columbus, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Gusty winds of 35-45 mph are possible during the onset of rain between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Overnight lows will be around 47 degrees.

For St. Patrick’s Day, rain will continue, mainly before 11 a.m. as temperatures fall to around 39 degrees by 1 p.m. A south wind of 15-17 mph becomes west in the afternoon, with gusts as high as 29 mph possible. Friday night will be partly cloudy and much colder with an overnight low around 25 degrees.

There is a chance for flurries after 9 a.m. Saturday, which will be mostly sunny with a high near 34 degrees. It will be breezy with a west wind of 13-21 mph with gusts as high as 31 mph. A chance of flurries continues Saturday night before 3 a.m. Overnight will be partly cloudy with a low around 20 degrees.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 37 degrees. Skies will be mostly cloudy Sunday night with a low around 22 degrees.

A warming trend begins Monday, which will be sunny with a high near 47 degrees.

The temperatures will rise into the 50s through midweek and is expected to reach the mid-60s on Thursday, according to the NWS.
