Cool, sunny for first day of spring; Clear skies for weekend

Today will start out freezing cold, but skies will be clear as temperatures rise around 30 degrees for the first day of spring, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

A high-pressure system moving slowly through the area will bring us dry weather and mostly clear skies through the weekend.

Temperatures at dawn will be in the mid-20s, but will ramp up to a high of around 57 degrees by the afternoon.

Overnight temperatures will again fall to around freezing at around 31 degrees.

Tomorrow will again be sunny and slightly warmer, with a high near 62 degrees. On Sunday night we will see a few clouds, but the forecast still calls for dry weather as temperatures drop to around 38 degrees.

Finally on Monday, we will still have a few clouds for mostly sunny skies, and temperatures will bump upward a little more to a high around 66 degrees.

Monday night, clouds will increase but weather is expected to be dry, with a low of around 44 degrees.
