Deland McCullough II, the son of Miami Athletics Hall of Famer Deland McCullough, verbally committed last weekend.

The younger McCullough is a three-star athlete prospect at Blue Valley North High School in Kansas.
A three-time All-MAC running back, the elder McCullough ran for a then-conference-record 4,368 yards for Miami in the early ‘90s.
He later spent time with the Bengals and Eagles as well as in the Canadian Football League before embarking on a coaching career that has included stops at Miami, Indiana and USC.
He is currently the running backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.

As for the RedHawks class, it was also No. 1 in the MAC (50th nationally) last June before sliding to 11th and 130th, respectively, when all was said and done in the winter.
That is likely at least partly attributed to the Miami class of 2018 including only 14 members.
FLASHBACK: Miami recruiting class heavy on defense
Prior to last year, Martin had proved to be one of the better recruiters in the conference, signing classes ranked No. 2, 3 and 5 in the conference from 2015-17.
Martin's four full-year recruiting classes have ranked on average 4.3 in the MAC according 247Sports.com composite rankings.
The current RedHawks class has commits from nine states, including four from Ohio, four from Kentucky and four from Indiana.
