HS Roundup 2/29: Unbeaten Fort Loramie advances to regional tournament

The undefeated Fort Loramie girls basketball squad secured its 10th district title of the last 11 years with a 40-26 win versus Franklin Monroe on Saturday at Troy.

Marissa Meiring led the way with 16 points and Ava Sholtis added 12.

Meiring went 7-of-8 from the foul line in the final quarter and Fort Loramie outscored Franklin Monroe 20-7 in the second half to pull away.

Fort Loramie improved to 24-0 and will play the Lancaster Fairfield Christian/Danville winner on Thursday at Butler.

Franklin Monroe, led by Corina Conley with nine points, finished the season at 23-3.

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

McAuley 51, Wayne 49: Alyssa Hargrove-Hall tallied 14 points and Aubryanna Hall added 12 in a losing effort for Wayne.

Versailles 58, Bethel Tate 45: Lindsey Winner scored 17 points, Caitlin McEldowney 13 and Brooke Stonebraker 12 to pace Versailles.

Boys Basketball

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Jackson Center 33, Troy Christian 29: Jackson Center finished the game on a 10-0 run to win in rally fashion.

National Trail 47, West Liberty-Salem 46: Cameron Harrison scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half to pace National Trail and Tyler Weathington added 15 points. Matthew Loffing, Nick Burden and Holden Nease each had 11 points for WLS.

New Miami 63, Ripley Union-Lewis 55: Deanza Duncan posted 22 points and Trey Robinette tacked on 17, including passing the 1,000 career point mark, to lead New Miami.

Versailles 64, Greenon 41: Dakoda Naftzger chipped in 17 points, Michael Stammen added 13 and Connor VanSkyock 10 for Versailles, which closed the game on a 22-8 run. Cade Rice paced Greenon with 15 points.
