Rod Carew to speak in Schear Family Heart Series

Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew will be a featured speaker in the Schear Family Heart in Sports Community Conversation Series.

The perennial All-Star will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Dayton Marriott, sharing stories about his baseball career and recent health challenges. He recently underwent heart and kidney transplants.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. All proceeds benefit The Heart Institute of Dayton, which sponsors the series.

Carew had a 19-year career with the Minnesota Twins (1967-78) and California Angels (1979-85). An outstanding hitter, he had 3,053 career hits, won seven American League batting titles and was an All-Star 18 times. He retired with a lifetime batting average of .328.
