Miley, 33, was 14-6 with a 3.98 ERA last season in 33 starts with the Houston Astros. He made one postseason relief appearance but did not pitch in the American League Championship Series or the World Series.

Miley, a first-round pick in 2008, debuted with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011 and pitched for them until being traded to the Boston Red Sox in December 2014. He was traded to the Seattle Mariners and a year later and then dealt by the Mariners to the Baltimore Orioles in July 16.

Miley signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018 and worked under pitching coach Derek Johnson, who’s entering his second season with the Reds in 2020, and then moved to the Astros last season. He’s 85-82 in nine seasons with a 4.32 ERA.

Miley is the Reds’ second big free-agent signing this month. They signed free-agent infielder Mike Moustakas to a four-year, $64 million contract on Dec. 2.
