Butler County’s top football recruit makes college decision

Fairfield High School running back JuTahn McClain has verbally committed to continuing his football career at the University of Kentucky.

McClain made that announcement Saturday night on Twitter, having announced earlier this week that UK was among his seven finalists. Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue were the other six.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound McClain rushed for 1,754 yards and 25 touchdowns on 219 carries last season as a junior. He also caught 24 passes for 416 yards and five TDs and returned six kickoffs for a 26.7-yard average and one score.

Fairfield is set to open the season at home against Centerville on Aug. 30.
