Ohio State Buckeyes: Wilson, Olave post impressive 40-yard dash times

The first day of on-field workouts at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine went well for Ohio State’s representatives — especially Garrett Wilson.

The Buckeye receiver said he would surprise some people with his 40-yard dash, and he did just that with an official time 4.38.

That time ranked seventh in a group of receivers with an average speed that was faster than any in at least the past 20 years.

It was particularly noteworthy for Wilson because pure speed is generally viewed as one thing missing from his overall impressive game.

He was already considered the top receiver in the draft by NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, and Wilson’s time should only solidify that.

Fellow Buckeye Chris Olave also impressed. His first unofficial time was a blistering 4.26, but that was adjusted to a still impressive 4.39.

Olave was already considered a dangerous deep threat, so that time should only reinforce his reputation.

Cincinnati receiver Alec Pierce posted the best vertical jump at 40.5 inches while Wilson’s mark of 36 inches was 12th.
