Ohio State beat Kentucky on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, and now the fifth-seeded Buckeyes know who they will play next.

No. 1 seed Notre Dame beat Purdue in overtime Sunday night to set up a Sweet 16 matchup in Lexington, Ky., on Friday night.

The game offers the chance at a reunion for a pair of Fairmont High School grads.

Makayla Waterman, a redshirt sophomore, is a reserve forward for Ohio State while Kathryn Westbeld averages 8.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a starter for the Fighting Irish.

Waterman and Westbeld combined to lead the Firebirds to four GWOC titles and three appearances in the state final four.

They won the 2013 state championship.

Ohio State will be seeking its first Elite Eight appearance since the Buckeyes were national runners-up in 1993.
