The Fairmont East graduate was head coach of the Aztecs in 2009 and ’10 before accepting the same position at Michigan, where he got off to a hot start he wasn’t able to sustain.
Hoke was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2011 when the Wolverines went 11-2, but went 20-18 the following three years and relieved of his duties after the 2014 campaign.
Since then the 60-year-old was the defensive line coach at Oregon and Tennessee before spending last season with the Carolina Panthers.
His older brother, Jon, was hired as the defensive coordinator at Maryland on Jan. 24.

Most recently, the Oakland Raiders announced they have hired Taver Johnson as assistant defensive backs coach for head coach Jon Gruden, a University of Dayton grad.
A 46-year-old Cincinnati native who starred as a player at Wittenberg, Johnson was among the coaches from Urban Meyer's last staff not retained by new Ohio State coach Ryan Day.
Though most of his 25-year coaching career has been spent in college, Johnson worked for the Browns in 2004.
