Roundup: Bearcats thump Indians

COLUMBUS — The host Brookhaven Bearcats scored 38 unanswered points Friday night and hung a 51-21 defeat on the Fairfield Indians.

Quarterback Tajuan Green rushed for 291 yards and three scores and passed for three touchdowns to lead the Bearcats (1-2).

Green accounted for 382 of Brookhaven’s 416 total yards.

Quarterback Kyle Wheeler threw two TD passes for the Indians (1-2). Tyler White scored twice for the Tribe.

White’s 1-yard run gave FHS a 21-13 lead with 6:53 left before halftime. Brookhaven scored three quick TDs to make it 31-21 at the break and added three second-half TDs for the final margin.

The Indians open Greater Miami Conference play next Friday night at home against Sycamore.

Zanesville 55, Ross 14: The visiting Rams (2-1) turned the ball over on four of their first five possessions.

The Blue Devils (3-0) scored 34 first-quarter points and never looked back.

Andrew Dunn had a pair of TD runs (10 and 66 yards) for Ross, which hosts West Carrollton next Friday night.

Lakota West 20, Anderson 16: Tyler Jones tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Davis with 4:43 to play to lift the Firebirds (1-2) to a road victory.

Jones passed for 174 yards and three scores. He also hit Bubba Williams (14 yards) and Kayuane Ross (36 yards) for scores.

Anderson fell to 0-3.

Lakota West opens up GMC play next Friday night at Princeton.

Fairfield Christian Academy 41, New Miami 6: The Vikings fell to 1-2 with Friday's home loss. No other details were reported.

New Miami opens Miami Valley Conference play at home next Friday against North College Hill.

Dayton Christian 61, Cincinnati Christian 24: The Crusaders (3-0) built a 40-0 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Mitchell Moon, Luke Hill and Elgin Ruff scored touchdowns for CCS, which fell to 2-1. The Cougars will face Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy next Friday night in their MVC opener.
