High School Highlights for Aug. 22

The Centerville girls golf team won the Lady Elk Invitational at Yankee Trace on Monday.

Marissa Wenzler led the way with a 71 and Amanda Hayes shot a 75.

Centerville finished with a 309. Springboro was fourth with a 343 and Northmont fifth at 389.

Edgewood 205, Taylor 234, Ross 275: Abbey Weaver shot a 47 to help Edgewood win in the tri-match.

Alter 173, Badin 212: Alter improved to 5-0 with the win over Badin.

Springfield Shawnee 215, Urbana 258: Gabby Pence shot a 54 to lead Urbana.

Fairbanks 179, Jonathan Alder 240, Triad 252: Krista Nicol was the medalist for Fairbanks with a 41. Macy Linscott led Triad with a 53.

Boys Golf

Centerville (B) 170, Troy 175: Mason Kilroy shot a 39 and Chance Koogler had a 42 for Centerville. Holden Scribner led Troy with a 41.

Sidney 198, Greenville 199: Jared Lindsey and Kyle Noble of Sidney split medalist honors with a 45.

Walnut Hills 177, Ross 193: Mitchell Riley had a 43 in a losing effort.

Springfield Shawnee 164, Ben Logan 172, Urbana 201: Grant Engle of Springfield Shawnee shot a 38 and Caleb Deerwester added a 41. Will Kenoyer led Ben Logan with a 39.

Greenon 167, Graham 185: Jake Richards shot a 36 and Christ Winter had a 37 for Greenon.

Mechanicsburg 182, Southeastern 202: Caleb Westfall led Mechanicsburg with a 38.

Madison Plains 167, Triad 176: Caleb Young of Triad got medalist honors with a 38 and Alec Ober shot a 42.

Tri-County North 181, National Trail 206: Isaac Plankenhorn had a 46 in a losing effort.

Newton 179, Twin Valley South 197: Chet Jamison and Drew Thiesing paced Newton with a 43.

St. Henry 172, Minster 182: Lucas Grieshop shot a 39 to help St. Henry improve to 5-0. Jordan Brackman and Ben Stubbs each had a 42 for Minster.

Fort Recovery 187, New Bremen 197: Grant Knapke led Fort Recovery with a 45. Derek Bergman of New Bremen was the medalist with a 44.

Tecumseh 3, Fairborn 0: Kayleigh Finlayson had 10 digs and Elena North tallied 6 assists with 2 aces and 2 digs for Fairborn.

Twin Valley South 3, Stivers 0: Gracie Hobbs had 5 digs in a losing effort.

Ansonia 3, Houston 0: Bailey Stammen tallied 22 assists with 8 digs and Lydia Sink had 17 kills for Ansonia.

Newton 7, Dixie 0: Nick Honeycutt had four goals and Jack Yoder scored the other three for Newton.

Chaminade Julienne 3, Roger Bacon 1: Emsley Spees tallied two goals for CJ.

Anna 9, Indian Lake 0: Adrienne Endsley scored twice for Anna.

West Liberty-Salem 4, Urbana 3: Gabby Hollar scored all four goals for WLS. Marra Evans, Sam Tracy and Taje Mack scored goals for Urbana.

Newton 2, Xenia Christian 0: Aliya Stine and Morgan Robbins each had goals for Newton.

Girls Tennis

Troy 3, Alter 2: Maggie Hennessy and Ashley Bruns grabbed wins to help Troy edge Alter. Amanda Showalter won in first singles for Alter.

Tippecanoe 3, Northmont 2: Jordan Jones and the doubles team of Ladia Coning and Alyssa Stewart had dominant wins to help Tippecanoe improve to 4-0. Marissa Anderson and Lauren Kelsey notched singles wins for Northmont.

Xenia 4, Tecumseh 1: Savannah Puckett and Peyton McClain picked up a pair of wins for Xenia in singles action. Karly Mulkey had Tecumseh's lone win in first singles.

Sidney 3, Urbana 2: Sidney doubles teams of Kathryn Sanders and Janae Drees and Auanna Edens and Caroline Gallimore picked up wins. Haylee Johns and Morgan Lattimer had singles wins for Urbana.

Bellbrook 4, Vandalia 1: Andrea Szep, Shea Foster and Abby Schultz swept the singles matches for Bellbrook. The doubles team of Rachel Burton and Hannah Scarpelli had the lone win for Vandalia.

Preble Shawnee 5, Valley View 0: Preble Shawnee ran its record to 3-0 with the win.

Badin 5, Harrison 0: Badin improved to 4-0 with the sweep of Harrison.

Chaminade Julienne 4, Miami Valley 1: CJ moved to 3-0 and Miami Valley took its first loss.

Greenon 4, Greeneview 1: Arian McNeil, Courtney Brinkman and Shelby McHenry picked up singles wins to help Greenon improve to 3-0.
