Football recruiting: Fairfield standout McClain offered by College Football Playoff semifinalist

Fairfield High School junior Juthan McClain added to an already impressive list of college suitors earlier this week with an offer from Notre Dame.

McClain, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back, was the offensive player of the year on the Journal-News All-Area team after collecting 2,330 all-purpose yards and 31 touchdowns in 11 games this season.

McClain rushed for 1,754 yards and 25 TDs, caught 24 passes for 416 yards and five scores and returned a kickoff for a TD.

McClain was a first-team, all-Ohio selection, the offensive player of the year in the Southwest District and the offensive player of the year in the Greater Miami Conference.

McClain is eighth in Ohio among the 2020 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He ranks fifth nationally among all-purpose backs.

In addition to Notre Dame, which faces Clemson on Saturday in a College Football Playoff semifinal, McClain also has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Cincinnati, Kentucky and several other Power 5 programs, according to 247Sports.
