Botched pitching change set up Joey Votto’s heroics against Indians

They got an assist from Tribe manager Terry Francona, whose apparent decision to go to right-hander Chad Otero in a tight spot brought questions from the Indians faithful.

After the game, the Indians skipper admitted he ended up with the wrong reliever on the mound to face Joey Votto with the bases loaded in the ninth inning.

That would be a hilarious subplot if Otero had ended up getting Votto out, but he allowed a ringing three-run double that put the Reds on top.

Indians fans therefore are only left to wonder what if it had been Oliver Perez, who is not only left-handed but also counts himself among the many pitchers over the years who have spent at least part of their careers as Reds killers.
