“I wanted to ensure that anything that came into contact with his skin was not only harmless, but also beneficial,” she said of the 2009 discovery. “No amount of money could buy the level of natural goodness I demanded for my son.”
Inventing a product that was gentle enough for her son's sensitive skin and dubbing it ShineyHiney baby wipes turned Hitt into entrepreneur, one who launched Grace Green Beauty, which sells its products online and in various Tri-State stores.
“The truth is, I was not trying to start a business,” Hitt said. “My passion and hobby became a business when I found myself filling orders for products I created for myself and family.”
Among Grace Green Beauty’s 15 products are InkDrink tattoo care, a natural deodorant called PitClay, The Serum for anti-aging, scars and damaged skin, Grace Face cleanser and a line of baby products.
The company’s top seller, BodyFood moisturizer, took nearly 1,000 batches to perfect. While Hitt’s experimentation started at home, she now manufactures, packages and distributes Grace Green Beauty products from a 900-square-foot office at 8162 Regal Lane.
Hitt said its important to hand craft her products in small batches from an array of certified organic cold pressed oils and unrefined butters.
“Small batches insures quality control and lots of love going into each jar of goodness,” she said. “I make every single product myself. It is a very important part of my business that I am not willing hand over.
“As far as ingredients go, it’s simple. Only the best of the best. That’s what I want for my skin, so that is what I use.”
The process never uses parabens, petro-chemicals, phthalates, sulfates, artificial preservatives and dyes, synthetic fragrances, animal testing or anything harmful.
Grace Global Beauty’s plans for the remainder of this year include adding two facial cleansers, three new toners and two new moisturizers. Hitt said she also is working on “something special” for the “holiday season.”
