Two existing businesses announced Tuesday plans to expand in the township and add a combined 93 jobs to the region.
West Chester Twp.-based technology company Contingent Network Services and heating and cooling system manufacturer Systecon will make multi-million dollar expansions to their existing facilities, according to officials at each business.
The companies will only expand, however, if they’re granted a partial tax exemption on their new property taxes.
West Chester Twp. Trustees unanimously supported the companies’ application for tax exemption status during a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday. The Butler County Commissioners are scheduled to vote on the tax exemption status Thursday.
If Contingent Network Services officials can get a 65 percent property tax exemption on a new $5.4 million building they plan to construct, it means 120 full-time jobs will stay in the region and an additional 75 full-time jobs will be added, according to company officials.
“We’re essentially in non-stop hiring mode,” Jeff Stine, a vice president for the company said. He added that the company has nearly doubled its revenue during the last three years.
Township trustees said they want to keep the good-paying jobs Contingent Network Services offers in Butler County.
“This is the type of industry we really like to have in West Chester, something you can maintain your community on,” Trustee George Lang said.
The technology company employees 120 people with an average salary of $65,000. The company plans to pay the additional 75 employees it will add an average salary of $40,000, company officials said..
If granted the partial tax exemption status, Systecon officials said they plan to add 18 wielding, engineering and electrical jobs with an average salary of $40,000.
The company, which currently employees 63 full-time workers, will nearly double the size of its building with a $2.1 million construction project early next year, according to Marty Tierney, president of Systecon.
Company officials are asking for a 55 percent property tax exemption on the expansion for the next seven years.
Both companies will need to negotiate a payment plan with Lakota Local Schools to obtain the tax exemption status.
