Waffle House building new Liberty Twp. location

Waffle House is building a new 24-hour restaurant in Liberty Twp. set to open early next year, the next in a series of restaurant openings planned for the Cincinnati area.

The chain is now hiring for the soon-to-open site, located at 4351 Hamilton-Middletown Road/Ohio 4, said Brad Huelsman, region vice president. A typical restaurant has 24 to 30 employees serving waffles, T-bone steaks, eggs and other menu items.

Waffle House Inc. subsidiary Midwest Waffles has opened eight new Cincinnati-area restaurants in the last two years, Huelsman said. Prior to this, new eateries were opened in Colerain and West Chester townships, and a Fairfield location was rebuilt, he said.

After the Liberty Twp. Waffle House project is completed, the company is eyeing Springdale and Springboro for future dining spots.

“We’re growing in the Cincinnati area intensely right now where every 90 to 120 days we’re opening up a new location,” he said.

A franchise previously operated existing Waffle House locations in greater Cincinnati. But local area restaurants became corporate-owned about four years ago, he said.

“Now we’re part of corporate, we have the assets to grow the market like it needs to be.”

Today, Midwest Waffles operates about 74 restaurants in the Indianapolis, Louisville, northern Kentucky, northeastern Cleveland, Toledo, Youngstown and Akron areas.
