“It’s a free event, open to the entire Greater Hamilton community,” said Scott Berry, director of community outreach and volunteer engagement. “A lot of the focus of our community-outreach events is family-oriented, so we have hands-on activities for kids — both young and junior-high, high-school. There’s something for everybody. It’s also good for parents to come and get a sense of what the Fitton Center is all about, because we obviously are far more than just kids’ programming.”
It also offers classes for adults, such as painting, drawing, mosaics.
“It’s a great showcase event for us to show what we do, and the facilities and the spaces in which we do it,” he said.

Even if you’ve never ventured into an art museum or arts center, you won’t be intimidated by the event, Berry said.
“It’s designed to be open and accessible, and inclusive…. The hope is because it’s an open-house format, the pressure is off as far as what to see and do. Nobody’s locked into the classes that we run. Nobody’s committing to a whole evening of something,” he said.
“Even if they’re only here for half an hour and they only do two of the 10 or so activities we’re doing, they’ve at least got to see the space, and it’s a low-pressure introduction to what the Fitton Center’s all about.”
People can fit even half an hour into their schedule anytime during the four-hour event, which will be held at 101 S. Monument St. in Hamilton.
