Soggy soil from all the recent rains caused a landslide that has closed Hamilton’s South B Street in both directions between Millikin Street and New London Road.
Soil from the hill west of B Street slid into the roadway, upending a tree that also blocked the street’s southbound lanes.
Police Chief Craig Bucheit tweeted around 4 p.m. today that the landslide “has caused the complete closure of S. B St. between New London and Millikin. The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours.”

A police spokesman, Sgt. Rich Burkhardt, said, “We’ve got crews out there right now.”
For vehicles traveling southbound on B Street through the railroad arch, “you have to turn right onto Millikin and go on D Street” and onto New London Road, Burkhardt said.
