Cleanup begins after truck overturns in Middletown

UPDATE @ 5 p.m.: A crew is cleaning up Columbia Avenue after a truck overturned and lost its load of sludge. A tow truck company also is on scene and the trailer is upright.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

UPDATE @ 4:15 p.m.: 

Carmody Boulevard and Columbia Avenue in Middletown remain closed after a truck overturned earlier today.

There were no injuries reported, according to officials. The truck driver said he had just left the paper company, turned right and was heading to Interstate 75, when the truck overturned.

The driver works for Red Bank Trucking Co. and was heading to Kentucky. The truck’s support bars were broken after it overturned.

INITIAL REPORT:

An overturned truck has closed Carmody Boulevard and Columbia Avenue in Middletown.

The truck was carrying sludge from a nearby paper plant, according to dispatchers.
