Police shoot woman in southwest Ohio when she reportedly tried to run over caller

A Dayton police officer shot a woman after police said that she was attempting to run over a person involved in a separate call.

Police put out yellow crime scene tape late Thursday night after a woman was shot.

A woman reportedly called police at 10:34 p.m. on a domestic issue, and officers and medics found her in the 1700 block of Newton Avenue in Dayton, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.

During that call, another woman showed up and tried to run over one of the people involved in the domestic issue, records said.

Police said that one officer fired their weapon and struck the woman in the car.

She was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and has since been treated and released, according to police.

This story originally read that the woman who called police had been shot, but police said that the person who was shot was not the caller.

We are working to learn more on this developing story and will update this report.
