West Chester Twp.'s annual Touch A Truck event on Friday, June 15, saw youngsters atop a SWAT armored truck and behind the wheel of a giant fire truck. Some even climbed into the cockpit of a medical helicopter.
The event is popular with area youngsters and for police and fire officials, who say it builds generational goodwill toward authorities, and may even spark a career interest for youths.
The West Chester Fire Department was on hand as children doused out mock flames with an actual fire hose.
And the action wasn’t all big machinery.
The Lakota West Marching Firebirds were on hand to let young musicians try out some of their instruments.
