Traffic slow along Cincinnati Dayton Road as crews repair water main break

Traffic on southbound Cincinnati Dayton Road, just south of the Ohio 129 interchange is reduced to one lane for about 50 yards as work crews finish repairing the water main break.

The lane is expected to reopen by Thursday afternoon, according to the Butler County Engineer’s Office.

Rush hour delays are possible so motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Dennis Siler, manager of Shell at 7088 Liberty Centre Drive, said employees of the gas station and convenience store noticed just before 7 a.m. that the water main broke and water was running off into the creek bed.

“It was inches deep,” Siler said. “People were driving through it.”

Crews arrived quickly to assess the problem, turned off the water around an hour later and have been on site ever since, he said.

Traffic to and around the business seemed a little bit slower than usual for a few hours, but has been “moving pretty good” since around 10 a.m., he said.

Crews from the Butler County Water Department said the water main break occurred just south of the Ohio 129 exchange.

No one was hurt and the break was soon repaired without surrounding businesses losing any water pressure, officials said.
