The business initially opened a Colerain Twp. location three years ago, then opted for a Hamilton storefront this summer, said Traci Rice, one of the store’s partners.
“We didn’t see any furniture stores in that area,” she said. “There are a couple on Route 4, but to me that would be more like the Fairfield area. There’s Jay’s Furniture, but nothing really in this neighborhood.”
What sets Furniture, Rugs & More apart from its competition are the bargains it offers, Rice said.
“We pretty much beat everybody else’s prices, especially on rugs, mattresses and furniture … and if we don’t beat it, we’ll meet it,” she said.
Many curious residents have stopped in to check what the store has to offer and some have taken advantage of its layaway option, which allows customers to come in and make payments gradually, typically within a three-month period.
“Most furniture stores, they only have financing,” she said. “We don’t do financing, we have layaway, so it’s not like you have to have good credit if you don’t have the money all at one time.”
The store will work with those who cannot make payments by the end of the allotted time, if needed, especially if a large amount of money was put down.
“We’re not just going to say ‘Oops. Sorry. It’s 90 days,” Rice said. “A lot of times it’s more than 90 days, especially at our store in Colerain. We’ve had layaway for six or seven months. We’re willing to work with our customers.”
Hours for Furniture, Rugs & More are 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
