“The lobby is kind of a game room,” according to Kal Patel, Crestpoint’s president and CEO of Mason-based Crestpoint Companies, the site’s developer.

“We’ll have a foosball table there. It’s very open, very dynamic, very inviting. It just creates an ambiance for people to just come in there and hang out.”

A 24-hour market features local snacks, gourmet treats and single-serve wine and beer.

Crestpoint is a fully integrated hospitality development and asset holdings firm. This the second Hilton hotel in Cincinnati developed by Crestpoint, adding to a development portfolio that also consists of hotels by Marriott and IHG.

Tru by Hilton’s Monroe location is expected to open by next July and will have approximately 25 employees, Patel said.

The Hilton Worldwide Corporation has Tru Hotel locations in the Cincinnati- and Dayton-area markets, including Mason, Beavercreek, Huber Heights and Florence, Kentucky. A Sharonville location is set to open Nov. 30.

Overseeing all construction services for the Monroe site is Cincinnati Commercial Contracting, a construction management/general contracting firm that has been in business since 1979.

Crestpoint originally looked at the site about five years ago, Patel said.

“At the time, we didn’t feel it was ready for a hotel, but with everything happening here in the market, the development with your Amazon to Bed Bath & Beyond, you’ve got the sports park now coming in, we feel very, very confident this area is going to need the rooms and specifically the Tru by Hilton Brand,” he said.

The area, he said, is “geared towards a lot of leisure activity, as well as business travelers.”

Monroe City Manager William Brock said the hotel was the first new one for the community in his almost 20 years with the city and part of a good cornerstone development, Retail 63.

“It just (shows) what is happening as these two giant cities (of Cincinnati and Dayton) grow together and we’re here in the middle,” Brock said. “We’ve always seen that potential coming ever since the (Cincinnati Premium Outlets) mall went in … over 10 years ago.”
