Adkins wrote on his blog that Styles “put on a clinic” Friday on how to start the school year in the “right direction.”

Adkins said Styles’ plans is similar to his when he was named city manager three years ago.

“Do the right thing every day and keep moving the city, and in his case, the School District, forward a little bit each day,” Adkins wrote. “I believe in his plans and I believe in his ability to move us forward. Please rally around this Superintendent and let’s work as a community to raise our test scores and prepare our youth for living wage jobs in the 21st Century.”

The superintendent has the city manager’s “vote of confidence” and full support, he wrote.
