3 men face dozens of charges in Oxford ‘brutal rape case’

Three men are in the Butler County Jail after their arrest for a February sexual assault in Oxford.

“This is a very brutal rape case,” Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser said. “One of the worst this office has seen.”

The alleged crimes involve a female victim who was visiting Oxford on Feb. 11 and 12. The assault occurred in an off-campus residence, not on the Miami University campus, according to the indictment.

Arrested are:

  • Roger Richard Michael Simpson, 23, of Cincinnati, is charged with 23 felony crimes, including 10 counts of rape, sexual battery, complicity to rape and kidnapping.
  • Eliljah Lee Mincy, 21, no address available, is also charged with 23 felony crimes, including three counts of rape, complicity to rape, sexual battery, kidnapping and complicity to rape.

  • Rodney Adrian Louis Gibson II, 21, of Cincinnati is charged with 26 crimes, including two counts of rape, sexual battery, kidnapping and complicity to rape.

All three men are scheduled to appear in court Monday, July 17, for arraignment.

The 72-count indictment was handed down by a grand jury on June 14, but was sealed until the suspects were arrested, according to Gmoser.

Simpson, Mincy and Gibson are not currently Miami University students, according to Carole Johnson, a spokeswoman for the university.
