Marco’s Pizza is expanding its reach into Butler County with its first location in Hamilton and a revamped presence in Middletown.
The Hamilton location of the fast-growing pizza company, which opened Wednesday at 1386 Main Street next to Texas Roadhouse, is geared for delivery and carryout but has seating for 10.
In a Middletown, a newly constructed, freestanding location at 1300 South Breiel Boulevard is scheduled to open Sept. 19.
For the new Hamilton location, Caskey opted for a 1,300-square-foot storefront nestled between a new Hot Head Burritos and a yet-to-open Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches.
“We felt this is prime pizza area,” said owner Dan Caskey. “This is our core demographic, our core customer. Hamilton loves pizza.”
For the new Middletown location, Caskey purchased a former Pizza Hut for $105,000, according to the Butler County Auditior’s Office, then razed the building and built a new Marco’s Pizza.
The new 1,800-square-foot structure provides greater visibility than the previous storefront, which was located less than half a mile away at 523 South Breiel for the past five years, Caskey said.
“We were kind of tucked back behind Burger King,” he said. “It was difficult to see us.”
Rather than remodeling that smaller location, Caskey invested more than $600,000 into building a new, larger sit-down restaurant, complete with three large flatscreen televisions and a pick-up window.
“We wanted to have something where people could … sit down have a pizza, enjoy some TV, but we also wanted to have a pick-up window for those people who wanted to do carryout, who didn’t want to maybe pay for delivery but didn’t want to come into the store, so they could come through in their PJ’s at night and pick up a pizza,” Caskey said.
Online ordering is also available at www.marcos.com.
Demolition and construction on the site took just three months thanks to Fairfield-based BHI General Contracting, Caskey said.
“BHI has been a godsend,” he said. “They’re probably some of the best contractors we’ve ever worked with. ”
The appeal of the eatery’s eight specialty pizzas is partially a result of its freshly made dough, available in original classic crust and crispy thin crust in small, medium, large and extra large sizes, Caskey said.
The eatery also offers bottled beer, CheezyBread, CinnaSquares and a recently expanded selection of 10 “oven baked and classic cool” sub sandwiches featuring new artisan-type bread.
For the carb-conscious crowd, Marco’s offers chicken wings, boneless chicken dippers, Italian salad, chicken ranch salad and a meatball bake, which features sliced meatballs and sausage baked with signature sauce and a cheese blend.
Founded in 1978 by Italian-born Pasquale “Pat” Giammarco, the Toledo-based company has grown from its roots as a Ohio brand to operate more than 300 stores in 24 states and the Bahamas.
Marco’s Pizza is the fastest-growing pizza company in the United States, based on the number of stores signed into development since 2007, according to the company.
