Many schools across the northern Cincinnati region are either closed today or letting students out early as the season’s most significant weather event is poised to make travel difficult.
Lakota Local Schools informed parents and students via Facebook that schools are closed today.
“Due to the forecast of dangerous weather conditions at dismissal of school today, school is cancelled for today,” and the school day will be made up on Feb. 19, according to Lakota schools post.
Hamilton City Schools, Springboro City Schools, Middletown City Schools, Franklin City Schools and Carlisle Local Schools are all closed today.
Lebanon City Schools are on a two-hour early dismissal plan today.
Rain is expected to turn to a wintry mix by mid-morning and then snow is expected to start to fall late this afternoon. Icy conditions are expected on the roadways as the temperatures drop.
