FAIRFIELD — Mary and Gene Barnes can once again play their favorite games at Prime Club Fairfield.

On Monday, Aug. 9, Partners in Prime’s Fairfield club reopened at 5108 Sandy Lane after unceremoniously being asked to leave its Fair Plaza location in April.

The couple, who live in Hamilton, use both the Fairfield and Hamilton clubs, but they enjoy playing double pinochle, 500 and bingo in Fairfield. They said they miss the previous Fairfield location, but they like this location even better.

“I’m just so glad they’re open,” said Mary Barnes. “It’s beautiful in here. It’s so open and airy.”

She’s also excited about the events Partners in Prime will have on the deck that overlooks a thick tree line.

Partners in Prime and a host of city and county officials dedicated the new club Monday with a ribbon-cutting and ice cream social.

Partners in Prime CEO Steve Schnabl said the dedication is “fabulous” for the city and seniors who missed the Fairfield senior center.

“It just lets me know how much we are the fabric of the community,” he said in response to the packed house at the new location.

Landlords Jim Adams and Buck Rumpke, as well as Sherry Schuster, membership coordinator for the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, helped to secure the site for the senior agency.

Prime Club Fairfield also houses Partners in Prime’s transportation dispatch center.

“We’re just happy to be a part of it,” Adams said. “It was important they stay in Fairfield.”
