Monroe to replace water main along Main Street

Monroe will be replacing a water main along South Main Street.

City Council on Tuesday approved an emergency resolution to construct a replacement water main from the south side of the City Building all the way to Community Park.

Public Works Director Dan Arthur said the city received five bids with Majors Enterprises being the apparent low bidder with a bid of $229,605 for the project. He said the water main project is being completed to replace old Transite pipe with ductile iron pipe that was also located in the way of the future multi-use path to be constructed on the east side of South Main Street.

The city had included funding for this project in its 2017 budget. According to the bid documents, the project needs to be completed on or before June 30, 2017.
