Madison school board member charged with domestic violence

A Madison Schools board of education member is facing a domestic violence charge stemming from an incident earlier this month at his Elk Creek Road residence.

William Chad Norvell, 44, of the 6600 block of Elk Creek in Madison Twp., was booked into the Middletown City Jail on April 8 on the first-degree misdemeanor charge. He was taken into custody following an alleged assault on his wife that she said occurred three days before.

Norvell, who was elected to the Madison Local School District Board of Education in 2017, was arraigned in Middletown Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance, and a temporary protection order was issued.

Requests for comment emailed to Norvell and other Madison school board members were not returned. A text message and email sent to Superintendent Lisa Tuttle-Huff were not returned.

Butler County Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Norvell’s wife, Tiffany, at about 10 a.m. on April 5, and she said she had been punched by her husband, according to the report.

“She stated that the suspect, her husband, had punched her in the face and abdomen, kicked her and pulled her around by her hair,” the deputy wrote in the report.

She also claimed in her statement that she fled to a neighbor’s house after other threats were made.

Tiffany Norvell was escorted back to the residence, where she gathered personal items to stay with a friend, according to the report.

Deputies checked the residence, other buildings and the Norvell business but did not not find Chad Norvell. A warrant was issued for his arrest on April 6.

Norvell is scheduled to be back in court for a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday.
