Local NAACP chapter to have a new leader for the first time in a decade

After serving in a leadership role of the Middletown chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People for 20 years, Dora Bronston didn’t run for a seat this year.

But Bronston said she’s still active in the NAACP, serving as secretary of the state conference under President Tom Roberts.

“It was just time,” Bronston said about her decision. “Time for someone else to take over.”

Bronston said she served 10 years as secretary and 10 years as president.

William Ford ran unopposed as president. Other officers: Celeste Davis (first vice-president), Jennifer Carter (second vice-president), Karen Moore (secretary), Paul Gomia (treasurer), Kip Moore (publicity) and Wanda Glover (community).

Bronston said the Middletown chapter has between 50 and 100 members.
