An employee at Flowerama in Florence, Ky,, also confirmed the store has closed. Ken Rogers, who owned the Fairfield floral shop, could not be reached at his Florence store.
City officials aren’t surprised the store closed, said Fairfield Economic Development Manger Greg Kathman.
“We heard their lease was running out at the end of July and heard for some time they weren’t going to renew,” Kathman said.
The Flowerama building, as well as the adjacent old Taco Bell building, is owned by Farhat Khan of Cincinnati. Neither Khan nor his attorney, Dennis Wittman, could be reached for comment.
Kathman said that spot is “an important corner” because of its high visibility. However, because the building is older and not very large, it may receive limited interest from possible tenants.
Unknown is whether the owner would consider demolishing the two structures and combining the former Taco Bell and Flowerama lots for development.
