The Cincinnati-based bank said it hopes the money can be used by families to start their baby’s first savings account or 529 college savings plan account. Families also received a new parent care package, including gift cards and a “Banker in Training” onesie for baby.
“What better way to celebrate than to recognize the brighest new members of our community: our local babies born on May 3 as Fifth Third Day Babies,” Tim Elsbrock, Fifth Third Bank’s Cincinnati market president, stated. “And congrats to their families, too.”
Fifth Third worked with seven health systems and hospitals, including Premier Health and Mercy Health.

For more than 25 years, Fifth Third has used today, May 3 — or “5/3” as it appears on the calendar — as a day to recognize employee contributions, thank customers and give back to the communities it serves.
This year, Fifth Third is launching a new effort to celebrate the day by recognizing some of its newest community members: Fifth Third Day Babies, which are local babies born today.
Fifth Third said it will give $1,053 to local babies born today in hopes the money can be used to start the child’s first savings account or a 529 college savings plan account.

The bank also is doling out a new parent care package, including gift cards to popular local merchants, a spa gift card for a stress-relieving massage and some surprises for the baby, as well, including a “Banker in Training” onesie.
Fifth Third is carrying out the effort at St. Elizabeth, Christ, TriHealth, UC Health, Mercy Health, Premier Health and Dearborn County hospitals.
