UPDATE: Fairfield school lockdown lifted after police catch suspect

Fairfield Schools says the school lockdown has been lifted after a suspect pursued by Fairfield police was taken into custody.

Fairfield police said the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Fairfield West Elementary and Sacred Heart School have been placed on lockdown as police are searching for a male with a gun.

Fairfield Police Officer Doug Day said police put the schools on lockdown police, saying they saw “a guy with a gun” at an apartment complex on Pleasant Avenue.

Police did not have any information on the suspect, Day said.

Fairfield West dismisses at 4 p.m. today. Sacred Heart said it would not dismiss until the lockdown is lifted.
