In addition to Fairfield’s popular summer concert series, Groovin’ on the Green, which is held on Thursdays, the city also will present a 4th Friday on the Green concert series on the fourth Friday of the month in June, July and August. This is the second year for the 4th Friday on the Green concert series.
“Last year was the inaugural season for the 4th Friday concerts. This year, we moved it to 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., instead of 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., because it’s a Friday night and our guests wanted to have it a little bit later,” said Brittany Theilman, community events coordinator for the City of Fairfield.
This year’s concert lineup will feature DV8 (’80s to current music) on June 28, Blessid Union of Souls on July 26 and Moment 44 (indie/alternative band from Fairfield, covers and original music) on Aug. 23.
Concerts are free and open to the public.
“We do have two really popular bands who have a big following with DV8 and 90 Proof Twang, and having the local band Moment 44 adds a youthful sound,” said Jen Combs, community events programmer for the city of Fairfield.
Moment 44 also played at the series last year, along with See You In The Funnies and Adelee & Gentry. The series draws a young professional crowd and some families.
“We hope that we will have very good weather, because you never know what will happen with outdoor events. Mother Nature can be our best friend or our worst enemy,” Theilman said.
Concerts will be held at Village Green Amphitheater.
Concerts will begin at 8 p.m. and food and desert trucks will be on site. Donatos Pizza is the presenting sponsor for the series. Fretboard Brewing Company will be the official craft beer for the series. Fretboard is a Cincinnati-area craft beer with deep connections to Fairfield.
“This year, we are really trying to get the word out. Last year was a great starting point, but we definitely know we are going to grow this year,” Combs said.
