Benny Alvin Barefield, 48, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a press release from the Middletown Division of Police.
It appeared he had been shot while in his car on Ninth Avenue, the report said.
Police received a call around 10:30 p.m. reporting that Barefield was in the vehicle on Ninth Avenue and Yankee Road.
It’s not known whether investigators have a suspect.
