Coronavirus: 41,576 total cases, 2,573 deaths reported in Ohio

The Ohio Department of Health is reporting 41,576 total coronavirus cases and 2,573 deaths attributed to the virus throughout the state.

There have been 38,536 confirmed cases and 2,342 deaths reported in Ohio during the pandemic.

ODH is reporting a total of 6,948 hospitalizations and 1,776 ICU admissions connected to the virus.

On Friday, amusement parks, water parks, racinos and casinos can reopen.

Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway announced protocols and other safety precautions this morning ahead of its reopening Friday.

Last week, Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton announced her resignation. Lance Himes will serve as interim director until Acton’s replacement is found. Acton will continue to work with Gov. Mike DeWine as his chief health advisor.

The governor also announced last week that the state is lifting restrictions from coronavirus testing. Previously, a physician’s order was required to be tested for the virus because testing was limited. Now, the test is available for anyone who is interested in being tested.
