Confirmed coronavirus cases continue to rise in Middletown

The number of confirmed coronavirus COVID-19 cases in the city of Middletown has risen to nearly 150 since June 2, according to the Middletown City Health Department.

As of June 18, there were 146 confirmed cases plus one probable case, according to Nancy Killop, health department spokeswoman. McKillop said health department officials believe the increase over the past few weeks are due to the re-opening of Ohio and the loosening of protocol as contributing factors.

“We are not expecting case counts to go down as more things open up,” she said. “We continue to stay proactive in strongly recommending everyone protect themselves by wearing a mask, keeping their distance, staying away from large gatherings and staying home if they are sick.”
