City recognizes officers in Trenton teen runaway case

The two Trenton police officers who were instrumental in finding 17-year-old runaway Loretta Norvell were honored last week for their “outstanding job performance.”

Norvell, the 17-year-old runaway, went missing in January and Trenton Police Chief Arthur Scott said Detective Sean Gill and Sergeant Jamy Chaney spent “countless hours” trying to find her.

He presented Gill and Chaney with certificates of commendation for “actions exhibiting outstanding diligence, perseverance and alertness and for highly meritorious accomplishments” on Thursday.

Norvell was found March 14 unharmed, hiding in a closet in a Middletown home. Several people were charged in connection with the incident.
