Butler County OVI checkpoint nets one OVI arrest

One OVI arrest was made during a Butler County OVI Task Force in Hamilton Friday night.

The checkpoint was operated from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on northbound Ohio 4/Erie Boulevard at Hanover Street in Hamilton.

Pete Reising, task force coordinator, said that 347 vehicles were checked with 22 vehicles diverted for further investigation.

Of those 22 vehicles, task force officers made one OVI arrest and cited three people for no driver’s license, three for driving under suspension, and one arrest on an outstanding warrant. In addition, there were seven vehicles towed.

Reising said the checkpoints along with saturation patrols in the around the checkpoint area is part of the continuing effort to reduce OVI-related crashes resulting in injuries and fatalities.

The Butler County OVI Task Force is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
