An officer responded to an address in the 700 block of South Main Street Dec. 12 for a report of a stolen vehicle license plate. The caller said the front license plate had been stolen from the vehicle between Dec. 5 and that day, according to a police report.

He learned of the theft after his mother had called him and said the license plate had been involved in a crime at a bank elsewhere.

She had spoken to someone from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office who came to her home in Burbank, Ohio asking questions about the license place because it had been involved in a crime in another jurisdiction.

The victim completed a statement and the officer confirmed the plate and screws were missing from the vehicle, which was in a parking lot on East Central Avenue.

The plate belongs to a 2015 gray Kia. The plate was entered into the LEADS computer network and the victim was advised to get with his father and get new plates as soon as possible.
