Boy Scouts Warren County accepts first girl into program

The Warren County Boy Scouts accepted its first girl into the program.

Lillian Gray, 10, participated in her first Cub Scouts event filling bags with food for needy children in the Lebanon School District Monday.

She loved the Girl Scouts but wanted to participate in more outdoor and wilderness activities.

“It was really my dad who brought it up. He said, ‘Do you want to join Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts because they’re open,’ and I said, ‘Sure,’” Gray said.

Gray’s father, Bill Gray, was proud his daughter became the first Warren County Girl Cub Scout.

Gray wants to be the first girl to receive the top award for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also wants her Girl Scout friends to join Boy Scouts.

Boy Scouts of America decided to allow girls in the program in October but early registration didn’t open until January.
