Franklin student hurt in fall is stable, moved to Dayton hospital

Superintendent Michael Sander said it appears the student who fell over a railing on the third floor of a stairwell at Franklin Junior High School was the only one involved in the incident.

Sander said the boy fell over the third floor railing to the first floor.

He said the student has been transferred from Atrium Medical Center to Dayton Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

Sander said the student is reported to be in stable condition.

INITIAL REPORT

A male Franklin Junior High School student was injured after a fall from the third floor steps at the school Tuesday morning.

According to a release issued by Superintendent Michael Sander, the incident happened about 11:45 a.m. and school officials immediately called for emergency medical services at 11:47 a.m.

Sander said the student was transported to Atrium Medical Center by the EMS squad. He said the parents of the student have been notified and are with him at the hospital.

School officials are still investigating the details of the incident, Sander said.

“Our best wishes go out to the student’s family, and we all hope for a full recovery,” Sander said.

No other information was available this afternoon.
